Located in the shadows of Pikes Peak, Woodland Park is a beautiful town incorporating the best of mountain life in the clouds. Rustic cabins and mountain retreat vibes find their way into this town cradled by greenery and Pikes National Forest.
With a low population, scenic views, and ease of access to Central Colorado, Woodland Park is the ideal destination spot. Everyday life feels like a vacation with quiet mornings and fun-filled days packed with outdoor activities, events, and outings.
While Woodland Park has no shortage of restaurants, outdoor activities, and shopping opportunities, it is also located 20-25 minutes away from Colorado Springs, so residents don’t feel like they’re missing out on amenities amidst their vacation vibes!
These are a few of the best places to visit:
The 200,000 square foot research center or museum can be found on Fairview street and has some of the best fossils dating back to North America’s Cretaceous Period. The fossils include dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and marine reptiles, including a massive T-rex, along with other large predators. There’s a lot to see, do, and learn because visitors can even check out the fossil lab to examine contemporary pieces that are being worked on by paleontologists. Apart from offering tours of the museum, there is a children’s play area where they can learn and interact with exhibits and get creative with hands-on activities!
2. 110 Reserve
110 Reserve is just the type of social gathering place Woodland Park loves. Looking for cocktails made with fresh ingredients, local beers on tap, tasty food options, outdoor seating with fire pits, and an enclosed heated outdoor seating space? You got it.

There’s something for everyone, and the spot is perfect for family reunions and camping under the stars!
Travel past the many schools and take a turn off Highway 24 to experience this beautiful reservoir nestled on Rampage Range only 4.2 miles east from Woodland Park. As one of the most popular outdoor recreation spots in Colorado, Rampart Reservoir has a 13-mile loop trail where you can go hiking or spend the day near the lake encompassed by scenic vistas.
If you’re into fishing, this is the ideal spot for you since you can find plenty of fish stocked by the Colorado Parks. Open season in the reservoir occurs from mid-May to mid-October and you can also go boating or kayaking on the lake!
If you’re an animal lover and looking to experience the wildlife in the town, take a tour with the Colorado Wolf Adventures! There are multiple trails along this area with breath-taking views of Pike Peaks and the Red Rocks.
What’s even better is that you will be going for a walk with wolves! If you’ve always wanted to get up close with these incredible creatures, then this is the perfect chance.
You can bond with your wolves, take pictures with them, and go hiking or for a run with them.
With the scenic town and mountain range in the backdrop, the Shining Mountain Golf Club is the only public one available in the mountains.
You can partake in the permanent disc golf courses, one of Colorado’s only available golf courses, offering such an approach. After a tiring day of golfing, head to the Shining Mountain Bar and Grill, which has a 1,400 square deck where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks, overlooking meadows where deer and elk come to play.
The spot is also ideal for a wedding since it encompasses several acres of natural beauty right off Highway 67.
